Two “Productive Processing Modules” equipped with photovoltaic systems were inaugurated in order to strengthen the economic activities of the population of the towns of Intuto and 28 de Julio, located in the district of El Tigre in Loreto. These infrastructures will enable the local population to have the capacity to process bush meat and fish in order to diversify the products they offer.

With the help of Law, Environment and Natural Resources (DAR), both modules were implemented with equipment for the creation of products based on the processing of fauna (bush meat and Amazonian fish), such as freezers to guarantee the cold chain, meat grinders, stuffers and vacuum sealers, all of which are powered by renewable energies (photovoltaic systems). This equipment will allow us to respond more efficiently to market requirements with more presentations and better products.

Likewise, in alliance with with the National Service of Natural Protected Areas (SERNANP) and the CITE Productive Maynas and the CITE Productivo Maynas, we are promoting the strengthening of capacities in the design of prototypes of hunting and fishing products for both associations. As well as in the instruction of best practices and measures hygiene applied to the food processing and distribution production chain, in order to ensure product quality standards.

From DAR, with the objective of to strengthen economic and productive activities for the local population in the Amazon region, we have been working to promote a change in the sustainable energy matrix through the use of renewable energies. Thus contributing to the strengthening of energy transition strategies and mechanisms for the mitigation of climate change and with a rights-based approach.

This activity was promoted within the framework of the project “Promoting affordable, clean and sustainable energy for Loreto” financed by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and is part of the activities of the Platform for a sustainable economic reactivation Peru and Colombia – PLARS.

The implementation of this initiative was carried out in alliance and articulation between Derecho Ambiente y Recursos Naturales, the National Service of Protected Areas (SERNANP), the Pucacuro National Reserve, the District Municipality of Tigre, the National Forest Program, Nature & Cultura Internacional (NCI) and the CITE Productivo Maynas.
